CHILDREN’S MOBILE CRISIS PROGRAM

Purpose of program:

The Children Mobile Crisis Program (CMCP) is a partnership between the Hôpital Régional de Sudbury Regional Hospital (HRSRH) and the Child and Family Centre (CFC).

The HRSRH Crisis Intervention Program provides crisis services 24 hour a day, seven days a week. Children/youth that attend the hospital or contact via telephone are triaged to establish risk level. When community-based services are indicated, the HRSRH refers to CFC. The CFC Crisis Clinicians respond to these referrals according to the risk level and level of psychosocial distress established at the HRSRH.

CFC’s response time for a face-to-face contact can be 2 hrs, 24 hrs, 3 days or 7 days. CFC Clinicians work with the child/youth and the parents to reduce the risk factors and stabilize the situation. The Clinician’s involvement is time-limited but transfer to longer term services through the CFC is available when needed.

The CFC’s Crisis Intervention Program operates within the City of Greater Sudbury from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm weekdays and the program offers service in both English and French.

CFC also offers crisis intervention services from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm weekdays in Espanola, Little Current, Sudbury East and Chapleau for moderate and low risk levels. (i.e. 3 day and 7 day response time).
