DAY TREATMENT

Purpose of program:

To provide children with mental health problems, between the ages of 4 and 18 and who meet the criteria for admission to a Section 23, as described in the Education Act, a school based therapeutic intervention. This program supports both the clinical treatment plan for the client as well as the academic needs. The goal of Day Treatment is the successful reintegration of the child into the regular school system. Each child has an individual treatment plan, including strengths and weaknesses within a multi-disciplinary process. These plans are reviewed at Section 23 planning meetings by the multidisciplinary team including parents, educational and clinical staff. Follow-up is also offered.

Admission criteria and process:

Children with behavioral concerns. Children are identified by the area School Boards, who inform and orient the parents to the program.

Each child accepted into the Day Treatment Program satisfies the admission criteria for service as determined by the Child & Family Centre.
